Pressurizers

Thrush pressurizer packages boost pressure to maintain proper flow rates throughout the system. From the top floor down, Thrush booster packages are uniquely engineered to provide constant pressure to the entire building  to ensure adequate flow and proper operation of fixtures, appliances and valves.

Simplex Pressurizers

Thrush pressurizers are pressure booster packages that increase system pressure and maintain the flow necessary to meet changing system demands. The constant pressure feature is unique and sets Thrush Pressurizers apart from other booster packages. Constant pressure on the top floor of a building ensures not only adequate flow but also, the efficient operation of water use fixtures and appliances such as flush valves, washdown bowls, dishwashers, washing machines and shower heads. Pressure boosting, without constant control of pressure, will cause demand pressure fluctuations. This will result in either too little or too much operating pressure at critical fixtures and appliances resulting in improper operation of the devices.

Standard Product Features

  • Completely assembled to simplify installation
  • Constant pressure at varying flows
  • Flows up to 100GPM
  • Pressure boost to 65 PSI

    Construction Features

  • Pressure boosting is accomplished with Thrush end suction centrifugal pumps. Depending on the Pressurizer model, city pressure can be boosted to 65 psi and flows to 100 gallons per minute.

  • Pressure regulation is controlled with the unique Boostrol valve which regulates and maintains a constant pressure regardless of fluctuating supply pressure or changing flow. The Boostrol valve also provides other services. It is field adjustable to meet the application, and is a check valve that prevents water from flowing back into the city supply and controls minimum run time for the pump. This assures that whenever system demand requires the pump to start it will run for a minimum of three minutes no matter how short the demand is.

  • Water storage is contained in a pre-pressurized diaphragm-type hydropneumatic storage vessel which provides a pressurized reservoir of water for peak load and minimum usage. This keeps the pump from starting for small infrequent demands.

  • Operation of the Pressurizer is controlled with a pump pressure switch set with a 20 psi differential system that starts at low end and shuts down at high end. The PB 60, 75 and 100 Models have a 5 psi minimum low suction pressure switch to prevent negative pressure draw on city mains.

Typical Applications

Supplemental Pressurization of Upper Floors
In cases where falling city pressure has made the main booster system incapable of maintaining proper pressure on upper floors of high-rise buildings, such as apartment houses, office buildings, hotels and motels.

Multiple Installations on Alternate Floors
Pressurizers can provide incremental pressurization for blocks of floors. Eliminates the need for a large central booster system. Ideal for modular building techniques.

Hospital/Research Facilities
Ensure constant pressure at critical points of use such as laser equipment and lab cooling systems.

Industrial Point of Use
Provide required pressure of process lines at point of use. Hydraulic pressure, cooling and flushing.

Jockey Pump Applications
Provides off peak/leak loss pressurization on fire systems, to keep large fire pumps from short cycles.

Off Peak Use
To provide minimum pressure during periods of low usage (weekends) and keep main booster system off.

Duplex Pressurizers

Thrush Duplex Commercial Pressurizers are pre-engineered pressure booster packages that increase system pressure and maintain the flow necessary to meet changing system demands. The constant pressure feature is unique and sets Thrush DCPs apart from other booster packages. This will result in either too little or too much operating pressure at critical fixtures and appliances resulting in improper operation.

Standard Product Features

  • Pre-engineered
  • Standard PLC control
  • Completely assembled to simplify installation
  • Constant pressure at varying flows
  • Flows up to 200GPM
  • Pressure boost to 65 PSI
  • Can work as a lead/lag system or as a simplex system with 100% back-up
  • Standard models in stock

Construction Features

  • Pressure boosting is accomplished with Thrush end suction centrifugal pumps. Depending on the Pressurizer model, city pressure can be boosted to 65 psi and flows to 200 gallons per minute when used as a lead/lag system.

  • Pressure regulation is controlled by our unique Boostrol® valve which regulates and maintains a constant pressure regardless of fluctuating supply pressure or changing flow demand. Our Boostrol valve is also field adjustable to meet the application, and is a check valve that prevents water from flowing back into the city supply and controls minimum run time for the pump. This ensures that whenever system demand requires the pump to start, it will run for a minimum of three minutes no matter how short the demand.

  • Water storage is contained in a pre-pressurized diaphragm-type hydro-pneumatic storage vessel which provides a pressurized reservoir of water for peak load and minimum usage. This keeps the pump from starting for small infrequent demands.

  • Operation of the Pressurizer is controlled with a pump pressure switch set with a 20 psi differential system that starts at low end and shuts down at high end. All DCPs also have a low suction shut-down to prevent negative pressure draw on city mains and protect the pump from running dry.

  • Automatic pump alternation to equalize pump wear and to exercise the lag pump is a standard control feature. The control panel is also equipped to automatically transfer operation to the lag pump should the lead pump fail.

Typical Applications

Stand-Alone Pressure Booster System
High-rise buildings, apartment complexes, office buildings and many other commercial and industrial facilities. The new Thrush DCP is engineered for use as a stand-alone system or as a supplemental package when additional boost in water pressure is required.

Provides required pressure of process lines at point of use. Hydraulic pressure, cooling and  flushing.

Off-Peak Use
Provides minimum pressure during periods of low usage (weekends) and keeps main booster system off.
